I write down everything I build.

A 22-week curriculum in realtime visuals, published week by week. The networks, the sets, the installations. The weeks where nothing worked get published too, with the reason.

That's the pitch. You can read the work before you pay for it.

What I'm for hire to build

Mapped installations. Projection onto real surfaces. Geometry, warping, the site survey, the load-in. Built to run unattended for the length of the run.

TouchDesigner contract work. Networks built to spec and handed over documented, so your people can open it after I'm gone. Realtime systems, generative pieces, show control, sensor and MIDI/OSC input.

Both come with the same thing the log has: a record of how it was made.

Who's building it

Software engineer by trade. Rust and TypeScript, systems work, the unglamorous half of the job where things have to keep running at 3am with nobody watching.

TouchDesigner is a programming environment that happens to output pictures. That's why I'm good at it, and it's why the network I hand you is one you can actually maintain.

Gear

I bring

  • Laptop running TouchDesigner and VDMX, configured and tested before load-in
  • HDMI and USB-C output, adapters, and a 25ft run
  • MIDI controller and a small interface for audio input
  • Spare drive carrying the whole show, cued and ready

You supply

  • Projectors and any rigging or mounts they need
  • Plans, photos or a survey of the surface
  • Signal path from the booth to each projector, including extenders on a long run
  • Power at the booth and at every projector
  • A table with sightlines to the surface
  • A feed from house audio for anything reactive

Before you write

Four things make a first email useful:

  • The space. Photos, dimensions, what the surfaces are made of.
  • The dates. Install, run, strike.
  • What it's for. A night, a launch, a permanent fixture, a festival.
  • The budget range. Even a rough one. It decides what's possible faster than anything else.

Seattle based. I travel for the right project.
